Inktober 2019: I Scream
I split Inktober 2019 into three short comics that used the official prompts. For the final third of October, I did a short horror comic about a witch and an ice cream vendor. Based on a true story.

I split Inktober 2019 into three short comics that used the official prompts. For the middle third of October, I did a sequel to last year’s Inktober comic Together Alone. I really enjoyed revisiting the supernatural seas! Maybe a happy ending next year… maybe.
I split Inktober 2019 into three short comics that used the official prompts. For the first third of October, I wanted to do something with witches of color that involved a happy/triumphant ending after grief and violation. I also wanted to play with the built-in type features in Procreate.
I do NaNoWriMo in November, so I don’t have much time to draw. Making these tiny drawings for a month-long color challenge was the perfect creative cooldown after long nights of writing.
For a while, drawing monster girls was my main form of stress relief from a toxic job situation. The last few monster girls were drawn after I quit and became much happier. Eventually I colored a few of them in. I loved my monster girls.
I split Inktober 2018 into several small projects. For the middle two weeks of October, I tried my hand at a short black and white horror comic. It ended up not being very scary, but creating a narrative out of the prompts was a fun challenge and I am proud of the tragic tale that resulted. People were divided about my schoolmistressy handwriting — some found it tough to read, others said it added a lot of personality.
I split Inktober 2018 into several small projects. The first week of October was dedicated to characters from previous years. These characters had been mostly hand drawn in years prior so I wanted to play with drawing them digitally. I didn’t get a chance to explore every relationship — example, the two Frankensteins. Maybe some other year…
I overachieved in 2017 and combined the official Inktober prompt list with the Dralloween prompts of artist Mab Graves. I kept it all in my sketchbook and brought back a few of the characters from previous years to have some fun with their development. Sketches and references shown. The last half of the month:

I wasn’t feeling the prompts for any of the Halloween Challenges in 2016, so I came up with my own list. I also went back to a purely hand drawn challenge, working with microns and Pitt Pen markers in a battered Moleskine sketchbook. I loved this year — some fun, tiny toons resulted. The last half of the month (apparently I missed Day 21: Enchanted Edible… ?):
